Week of January 27th...

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE A BOOK TO READ EVERY DAY!!!

AUTO/BIOGRAPHIES TITLES ARE PAST DUE!!!!

GET THOSE SIGNED REPORT CARDS RETURNED TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER.

VOCABULARY WORDS WERE GIVEN LAST WEEK BUT WE HAVE THE TEST THIS THURSDAY.

6C will begin Black History Month ( a little early ).  Students will learn about the Middle Passage.
We will read The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano.

Students will work in groups to complete a culminating activity.

Students will design (draw ) a memorial for the Africans forced to undergo the trauma of the Middle Passage.
Students will write a 150-200 word plaque or inscription for the memorial. This writing sample will define the Middle Passage, explain the economic factors that created a market for African slaves, and describe the fatal conditions Africans faced on slave ships.

6A and 6B-
Well, we didn't get quite as far as I thought we would last week BUT that's ok...we do things CORRECTLY not QUICKLY.

On Monday, we will finish FABLES and work on editing and revising our Pourquois.

On Tuesday, we will continue those Pourquois.  It is so important to get students to understand plotline, sequence of events, character development, and details.  Also, I cannot seem to get the idea across --if you don't know how to spell something- LOOK IT UP!
Students will have access to computers in the morning to type their pourquoi.

We should be able to begin Mythology on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Students will do online research on Ancient Greece. They will make a god/goddess booklet on each Olympian.
