April seems like a perfect month for Poetry...

Wow, where does time go??  We will be taking EOG's before you know it.  It's time to get serious!
We will be reviewing poetry terms and styles.  Students will also start reviewing concepts we've covered throughout the year.  There will be lots of EOG style passages and reading in the weeks to come.

Be prepared for class every day.  Make sure to have your notebook, journal and pencils.  We must work every day to stay focused and give 100 percent.  I want every one of you to feel comfortable when the End of Grade Tests roll around.

We will have a vocabulary test next Thursday.  I will give you ten words on Tuesday and 10 more on Thursday.  You will have an entire week to study these words.

Here are the first 10:

1.  rhythm
2.  alliteration
3.  assonance
4.  metaphor
5.  onomatopoeia
6.  lyric poem
7.  narrative poem
8.  imagery
9.  personification
10.  simile

Homework Tuesday night:  Give an example of each term (except 6 and 7)
Homework Wednesday night:  Assignment on "Poison Tree"
Homework Thursday: Read 30 minutes and write a 4 to 5 sentence summary
